Artist's Comments

This picture has tons of sentimental value to me. It has quite a story to tell.

The picture itself was somewhat special. The original version of this picture was a color picture of my dog running around our front yard, on one of the first Spring days of the year. I edited it, put it in black & white, and didn't really think much of uploading it to my MySpace. I showed it to a couple of friends, who in turn said "Wow! That's my favorite picture!" Even my fiance says this is his favorite picture of Tug...

Then our computer crashed. And by crashed, our motherboard fried or died, I'm not sure. Anyway, it had a horrible blue screen death, and never came back on. All of my pictures, songs, everything, gone in an instant. We got another computer, but before tossing our old one, I pulled both hard drives I'd installed.

Then, this morning, I saw this 80% off all prints business. I ordered Doggie Watercolor, since that is my favorite picture of Tug. Upon telling my fiance about this, he demanded I put this picture up, and get a print of it for him. Problem was, I didn't have the original, and the resolution of the picture I posted on MySpace leaves A LOT to be desired!!

So, I pulled out my hard drives, and wrangled them into this new computer. The older hard drive wasn't even a digital hard drive, so everything I had on there is lost. All my older pictures, all my songs, all my planet textures...even my Photoshop version, with all the filters and brushes I'd made...gone.

But I'd saved this picture in the same folder as the original. In my camera upload folders. A year and a half worth of pictures: restored. Whilst my pain is still rather great for losing all those files, this picture holds true to the test of time, nuked motherboards, and...oh eff it, it's special, okay!? :P

He is cute! Sorry to hear about losing all of your work! When I hear stories like this I am glad that the majority of my work is hand drawn and tucked away in portfolios.
